Who We AreBradford on Avon Choral Society was founded in 1986 as a community choir for the local area. Its members are enthusiastic amateurs who enjoy being part of the great British tradition of choral singing.
Since then we have rehearsed and performed a huge range of choral works — Masses, anthems, oratorios, opera and secular pieces including Bach, Beethoven, Britten, Borodin, Bruckner — and that's just 'B'! My philosophy is fundamentally that the members should enjoy themselves whilst simultaneously getting to know musical works in depth. No audition is required but a high level of commitment is expected. In this way the musicianship of individuals increases and we can tackle more and more challenging works. Our concerts are generally performed with professional soloists and keyboard players. From time to time we book an orchestra as well. I believe it is important that the choir members have the opportunity to perform alongside professionals. The result is a memorable evening and the glorious fulfilment of those long months of preparation. Rupert Bevan, Music Director |
